Includes correspondence of Jardine's wife, Mary G. Peck; their children, Catherine (who married Andrew Post, of Connecticut), Vincent, Douglas, and John E. Jr.; and their daughter-in-law, Laura (wife of John E. Jr.). Business papers consist of correspondence, billheads, and some receipts. Firms and associations represented (in addition to Staats) include Occidental Life Insurance Company, Pasadena Board of Trade, Pasadena Orange Growers Association and other citrus growers associations, Southern California Edison Company (earlier names: Edison Electric Company of Los Angeles; Edison Electric Company), and Union Oil Company.

The Pasadena Fruit Growers' Association was formed in 1893 to provide centralized marketing for the produce of the members of the organization. The name was changed to the Pasadena Orange Growers' Association in 1898.
